Top Chef: We Was Had (and That's OK!)

Top Chef, Bryan Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll, Michael Voltaggio, Kevin Gillespie Trae Patton/BRAVO

We got taken for a ride by a Top cheftestant, and we don't mind one bit.

When we told you a couple weeks back that we had reason to believe that a front-runner (Jen, Kevin, Mike V. or Bryan) went home early, that reason was because someone from our team ran into "the red-haired guy from Top Chef" (aka Kevin Gillespie) while our friend was shopping for engagement rings in downtown L.A. The chef in question told our friend, "I got kicked off before the end." Well, as you saw last night, Kevin won the final Vegas challenge and sailed safely into the finale, along with fellow obvious finalists Jen Carroll and the Volt bros.

(FYI, this encounter happened in mid-October, which we believe to be before Kevin went north to shoot the finale in Napa, so don't sue us if Kevin doesn't make it into the final three and you feel spoiled. In that case, it's just a coincidence and we're not liable, darn it!)

We warned you at the time, "It could be part of a Bravo misinformation campaign, but we trust the source, so we're passing it along to you." Well, it's looking more and more like misinformation is the case, and we have to say, "Thanks, Bravo!"

Why are we grateful to have been taken for a ride? Well...

"I was at the show at Fashion Week so I already know what the collections are and what they look like. But I have an inside scoop," he told us Tuesday night at the American Eagle Times Square store opening.

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Which Solo Was "Horrid"?

So You Think You Can Dance, Top 14 Kelsey McNeal/FOX

Tonight on So You Think You Can Dance we learned that while a remarkable solo can save a dancer in danger, a totally terrible solo won't necessarily get you sent home if you have already banked enough "star moments" and sex appeal in the minds of the judges.

We've got the scoop from behind the scenes at SYTYCD that reveals why a "very good" dancer went home in place of the dancer with one of the most unchoreographed and random solos in recent memory...

So You Think You Can Dance, top 16 Michael Becker/FOX

Mollee Gray and Nathan Trasoras' devoted fan base made all the difference this week on So You Think You Can Dance. Had Mollee and Nathan's fans not voted their couple safe during last night's competition show, the bottom six would have had a different composition, and it's possible that another couple might have gone home.

So who did go home tonight, how did Mollee and Nathan change the game, and which dancer might be too sexy for her own good? Here's what we learned from chatting with the judges after the top 16 results show...

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Why the "Stunned" Judges Sent Bianca Home

So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD, Bianca Revels, Phillip Attmore Joe Villes/FOX

It was a tough night for the tappers on So You Think You Can Dance. Both Bianca Revels and Phillip Attmore were sent home, but we caught up with the judges backstage and learned it didn't have to be that way.

In fact, Bianca's fate wasn't sealed until the final minutes of tonight's episode, when two judges outvoted the third and sent home Bianca, saving Noelle Marsh to dance another day.

What made the difference? Here's what we learned...

Top Chef Shocker: Does a Front-Runner Go Home Early?

Top Chef, Bryan Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll, Michael Voltaggio, Kevin Gillespie Trae Patton/BRAVO

Hold on to your knives, Top Chef fans, because a shocking elimination is right around the corner.

According to a source, one of Top Chef's four generally acknowledged season-six front-runners—Jennifer Carroll, Kevin Gillespie, Bryan Voltaggio and Mike Voltaggio—has let slip that he or she doesn't make it all the way, saying, "I got kicked off before the end."

The cheftestant in question revealed this info a couple of weeks ago during a casual conversation with a new acquaintance in the jewelry district of downtown Los Angeles. It could be part of a Bravo misinformation campaign, but we trust the source, so we're passing it along to you.

So who is it? We can't tell, but that doesn't mean you can't guess! Here's another clue: He or she has a number of wins under his or her belt, and he or she seemed to be coasting toward the final and very possibly the title of Top Chef!

America's Next Top Model: Ousted Model Defends Tyra's Controversial "Blackface" Photo Shoot

Americas Next Top Model, Brittany Tyra Banks/Pottle Productions Inc

Mahalo no she didn't!

Instead of heading abroad, the petite contestants of America's Next Top Model boarded Fierce Airlines for Hawaii this week. But without kimonos or Carmen Miranda fruit hats to make their experience culturally relevant, Tyra Banks had to get creative and...biracialize the models?!

Mathematician Brittany, who was sent packing in this week's episode, explained why Tyra thought it was a good idea to change the models' skin color and play Yahtzee with cultures and ethnicities in the name of fashion.

Break it down, Brittany...

So You Think You Can Dance: One Day You're In, and the Next Day You're Out

So you think you can dance, brandon, pauline Kelsey McNeal/FOX

This reality-contestant merry-go-round is dizzying. Can we get off?

Thanks to baseball playoffs wreaking havoc on Fox's schedule, So You Think You Can Dance is all mixed up this season. Usually the two-hour competition episode would air on Tuesday, fans would vote overnight and an elimination episode would air Wednesday, but until the World Series is done, competition and elimination happens on the same night, and there's no fan voting to save couples from elimination. The judges decide among themselves who's going home.

Here's what happened during tonight's Top 20 competition, complete with pairings, dances and the identities of the two eliminees who got the full Cat Deeley precious-darling treatment on the way out:

Kristin Cavallari Thinks The Hills Is Bigger Than Grey's Anatomy

Kristen Cavallari Jesse Grant/Getty Images

Don't look now, but Kristin Cavallari totally drank the crazy punch.

We met up with The Hills understudy star last night at the Rock the Kasbah charity gala in Hollywood, and she insisted that The Hills "is the No. 1 show and we are doing really well."

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but The Hills' ratings are most assuredly down this season, by an average of more than 30 percent overall. (The season started out weak with 2.3 million and sank to 1.72 million on Oct. 13.) Still, when asked about the lower ratings, Kristin insisted: "No, they are not! We had one drop because of the Hip Hop awards on VH1, but then they went up the next week."

Whatever helps you sleep through the night, sweet girl! (Hopefully without Justin Bobby.)

In recent weeks, The Hills' ratings drop has received quite a lot of press, with many critics blaming Kristin's replacement of Lauren Conrad for the dip. Kristin calls that assertion unfair...

So You Think You Can Dance: Wait, So Paula Abdul Is Actually an Empty Chair?

Paula Abdul Jordan Strauss/Getty Images

Nigel Lythgoe is a tease!

The So You Think You Can Dance executive producer got us all excited last week when he tweeted, "All you Paula Abdul fans please check out next Monday's show." So, we waited tonight, with bated breath, for the erstwhile American Idol judge to pop up on tonight's installment of So You Think You Can Dance...but we waited in vain.

Instead of delivering the real deal, Nigel presented only an empty judge's chair with Paula's name on it, saying, "I've asked somebody to come along and be a guest judge whenever they can, so I've asked [the crew] to put a chair next to me just in case [Paula Abdul] ever turns up. It'd be lovely to see her. I'm putting the pressure on her!" OK then. (This is apparently Nigel's passive-aggressive version of emotional blackmail.)

Still, even with the Paula Abdul anticlimax leading off the episode, tonight's first-ever showcase show was a doozy, and we must discuss what went down, as well as a little late-breaking (and tragic) news about this season's top 20.
